How To Add A Zoom Link To Canvas

The Zoom for Canvas Integration allows you to beginning and join Zoom meetings from within Canvass. This article is for UMN faculty and staff who would like to use Zoom together with Canvas.

Annotation:Students are non able to create or host their own meetings from inside Canvas.

Zoom for Canvas Overview

The Zoom for Canvas Integration allows UMN faculty and staff to apply the following Zoom features from within Canvas:

  • Schedule Zoom meetings
  • List upcoming Zoom meetings
  • Join Zoom meetings
  • Create Agenda events for Zoom meetings
  • Create Sheet Conversations about Zoom meetings
  • Record Zoom meetings to the cloud (for non-HCC account holders only)

The Zoom for Canvass Integration does non let kinesthesia and staff to create breakout rooms earlier the Zoom coming together within Sheet. Learn more about Zoom breakout rooms.

Zoom and Canvas Accounts

You must have accounts in both Zoom and Canvas in order to use the Zoom for Sheet Integration.

If you are in the HCC, make certain you have taken the required training in gild to gain access to Zoom. Your account will have the same Zoom privileges and restrictions within Canvas as information technology does outside of Sheet. Adding Zoom to Canvas Courses

You need to add the Zoom integration to each Canvas course you desire to use with Zoom.

  1. Log into zoom.umn.edu
  2. In the same browser, log into canvas.umn.edu
  3. Select the course you would like to add Zoom to.
  4. In the form navigation carte on the left-hand side of the screen, select Settings.
  5. Select the Navigation tab.
  6. In the list of menu options, select the correct example of Zoom for your account:
    • Zoom if you are NOT in the HCC
    • Zoom for BAA if you are in the HCC
  7. Click theSettings icon.
    1. Select Enable to motion Zoom into your Navigation menu.

  8. At the bottom of the page, select Save. Zoom now appears in the grade navigation menu.
    The list of enabled items in the navigation tab now shows Zoom. Instruction: Drag and drop items to reorder them in the course navigation.
  9. When y'all access Zoom for the first time through the form navigation card, you will need to select theAuthorize pick in order to go on.

Managing Meetings

Scheduling a Coming together

These instructions are for UMN faculty and staff just. UMN students cannot schedule meetings through the Zoom for Canvass Integration.

After adding Zoom to a course, you can admission the Zoom tool from the class navigation menu. Then you can schedule a meeting.

  1. Select Zoom from the left-hand class navigation menu.
  2. Select Schedule a New Meeting.

  3. Follow the same steps to schedule a single Zoom meeting that y'all would utilise outside of Sail.
  4. To schedule a recurring coming together, select the Recurring Meeting checkbox. Yous are able to fix the following features:

Starting a Meeting

Displaying Meetings

To display upcoming meetings, select the Upcoming Meetings tab.

Deleting a Meeting

But the meeting creator can delete a meeting scheduled using the Zoom Canvas Integration.

  1. On the Upcoming Meeting list, select Delete next to the meeting you wish to delete.

Automatically Updating the Canvas Agenda

Canvas users are notified pastSail Conversation and a Canvas Calendar Event whenever a meeting is created or deleted. When yous schedule a coming together, the Canvas Agenda updates.

People who are enrolled in the course receive a Canvas Conversation message about the meeting. Students can select theJoinURL to join the coming together at the right time. You may need to achieve out to students directly if they take non set up Canvas notifications to their UMN email address.

Sharing Local Recordings in Sheet Using Kaltura

UMN kinesthesia and staff with HCC Zoom accounts may create and salve recordings on their local computers, but not on the Zoom cloud. Faculty and staff who are not in the HCC may also manage recordings of their Zoom/Canvas meetings from within Canvas.

In this commodity, recordings saved to your laptop or device are called local recordings.

Note:It is not recommended to store all of your meeting recordings in the deject because storage chapters in Zoom is limited. Further, saving a recording locally volition upshot in higher epitome quality.

Managing Recordings - For Faculty and Staff (Non-HCC Users Simply)

UMN kinesthesia and staff who are not in the HCC may manage recordings of their Zoom/Canvas meetings from within Canvas.

UMN faculty and staff with HCC Zoom accounts may create and salve recordings on their local devices, merely not on the Zoom cloud.

Displaying Recordings

Displaying recordings allows students to see your recordings.

  1. In Canvas, select Zoom from the form navigation menu
  2. Select the Cloud Recordings tab. A list of your recorded meetings displays. Y'all can play, share, or download recordings.
  3. To ensure that students can see the recording, toggle thePublish button.

Downloading a Recording

  1. Select the Cloud Recordings tab to meet the list of your recorded meetings.

  2. Select a meeting title to come across the recordings available for that meeting.

Playing a Recording

You can play a previous recording from within the Zoom in Canvas Integration.

  1. Select the Cloud Recordings tab to see the list of your recorded meetings.
  2. Select a meeting title to encounter the recordings available for that meeting.Meeting title text highlighted

Deleting a Recording

  • To delete all recordings associated with a particular meeting, select DeleteAll on the Cloud Recordings tab.
  • To delete a single recording selectDelete next to the recording yous wish to delete.

If yous take no further action, recordings stay in the trash for 30 days before deleting. You lot may wish to recover a deleted recording, or to permanently delete recordings.

To recover or permanently delete a recording that is in the trash:

  1. Go to your Zoom account at zoom.umn.edu and log in.
  2. SelectRecordings.
